Man faces additional charge after crashing car into Cape Fear River

WILMINGTON — A 42-year-old was charged Wednesday with multiple offenses after crashing his car on the riverwalk before it submerged into the Cape Fear River. He now faces another charge, according to a release from the Wilmington Police Department.

The vehicle was recovered from the Cape Fear River Wednesday evening and was a match to the car that eluded Wilmington police on Feb. 22, before the crash.

Terrance Ladell Jones was charged with DWI, failure to maintain lane, and careless and reckless driving. He received an additional charge of speeding to elude arrest and is being held at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center under a $50,000 secure bond.
