WILMINGTON — Local independent theater company Big Dawg Productions has put the breaks on an upcoming production due to Covid-19.

The company scheduled the comedy “Always a Bridesmaid,” written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, to open Feb. 10.

“Always a Bridesmaid” follows the story of four Southern friends — Libby, Ruth, Deedra, Monette and Charlie — who, in high school, promise to be in each other’s wedding. Thirty years later, they have to live up to their vow — some a little too frequently, others not at all. The show navigates the “choppy waters of love and matrimony” with comedy and friendship.

Scheduled to run two weekends at Thalian Hall’s Ruth and Bucky Stein Studio Theater, a notice went out Tuesday announcing its postponement instead.

“Due to Covid concerns, we had to make this difficult decision and will certainly keep you posted when we have new information to share,” Big Dawg stated.

The company informed it would put up “Always a Bridesmaid” at a different date, yet to be determined.

More information about Big Dawg and its upcoming season can be found on its website.
