Part of MLK Parkway closed due to ice

WILMINGTON — As freezing rain falls across Wilmington, some area roads have been closed due to ice accumulation.

The Wilmington Police Department sent a notice that Martin Luther King Parkway is closed between Kerr Avenue and downtown Wilmington due to icy roads. All travelers should plan ahead to take alternate routes and avoid the area.

Officials have urged motorists to stay off the roads if possible during the ice storm. Freezing rain will continue to fall overnight with sleet and a possible snow mixture heightening treacherous conditions as temperatures fall below freezing.
