LELAND — Two men are under arrest following an investigation into roughly $14,000 worth of stolen construction materials from various sites across Leland and Brunswick County since mid-September.
Ryan Tyler Duffy, 30, was arrested at his Leland home Nov. 23 by detectives with the Leland Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. He is charged him with two counts of felony larceny from a construction site and was booked in the Brunswick County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond.
Cody Allen Coston, 25, of Brunswick County, was arrested Nov. 24 by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and is facing charges for two counts of receiving stolen property from the construction sites. He was placed under a $25,000 secured bond.
According to a Leland Police Department press release, Duffy’s “extensive criminal history” includes property crimes dating back to 2013. He was convicted earlier this year for construction site thefts and has been under electronic monitoring by North Carolina Probation and Parole.
Detectives with the Leland Police Department, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office collaborated on this ongoing investigation.
