The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced a recall on chicken patties due to possible foreign matter contamination.
Produced by Innovation Solutions Inc. out of Kent, Washington, the recall will affect 1-pound packages of Trader Joe’s chile lime chicken patties (four per box). It also applies to nine-pound boxes of “spinach-feta chicken sliders,” 72 to a bulk. FSIS believes the product could be marred by pieces of bone.
Innovative Solutions’ recall adds up to 97,887 pounds of raw ground chicken patty.
Affected Trader Joe’s packages will have on the label the following lot codes: 2281, 2291, 2311, 2351, 2361, 2371, 2441, 2511, 2521, 2531, 2561, 2591, 2601, 2671, or 2721.
The 9-pound bulk boxes will have lot codes 2361 or 2631 on the label.
The products also will have “EST. P-8276” printed near the USDA mark of inspection.
FSIS noted in a press release the items were shipped nationwide and were produced anywhere from Aug. 16 to Sep. 29, 2021. The federal agency learned of the contamination from customer complaints, though no adverse reactions have been reported.
Consumers with these products in their freezers should return them to the place of purchase or toss them out immediately.
Consumers with food safety questions are encouraged to call the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 1-888-MPHotline (1-888-674-6854) or live chat via Ask USDA from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Eastern Time) Monday through Friday.
