Friday night football at Ashley High canceled from Covid-19 exposure

WILMINGTON — Ashley High’s Friday-night game against Knightdale on Sept. 10 has been canceled. Eighteen players from the football team are now under quarantine as the result of a positive Covid-19 test.

The school district sent out a release saying the team will resume next week’s junior varsity and varsity games against Laney High School. All players under quarantine will be able to practice again next Tuesday, Sept. 14; players not affected by quarantine will be unaffected and can continue to practice.

According to New Hanover County Schools, there are no other athletic events in the system affected currently.
