Pender County loses fire, EMS chief to Covid-19

PENDER COUNTY –– Pender County Division Chief Mark Covil died after a brief battle with Covid-19 on Aug. 30.

After joining the team in 2013, Covil served as the operational chief over the fire division for Pender EMS and fire department, according to a Pender County press release. Before joining Pender County, Covil served with the Sunny Point Ocean Military Fire Department, Hampstead Volunteer Fire Department, Ogden Volunteer
Fire Department, and New Hanover County Fire-Rescue.

The Pender County EMS and fire agency asks for thoughts and prayers for Covil’s family.
