Covid cluster identified in UNCW residence hall

WILMINGTON –– Two weeks into the fall semester, UNCW has announced a Covid-19 cluster in Sandpiper Residence Hall.

The university has not disclosed specific numeric totals of cases or those isolating. The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services defines a cluster as five or more cases among those in close proximity in a two-week period.

Contact tracing is underway. Effective Aug. 23, the university will no longer alert students or staff of clusters via text, email, or social media posts. Information on clusters will be housed on a section of the unversity’s website.
