Man arrested for wielding gun at officer

WILMINGTON — On Wednesday, a Wilmington Police officer encountered an armed male in the median of Randall Parkway. The male, 66-year-old Edwin Leroy Vaughan, pointed a gun at the officer, who in turn chased the suspect to the parking lot of Rooms to Go on South College Road.

The officer was able to de-escalate the situation by talking with Vaughan. He was charged with five counts of assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm and is being held under a $100,000 secured bond at the NHCSO detention center.
