WILMINGTON –– A “highly intoxicated” driver collided with a nursing home in Wilmington Tuesday night, according to the Wilmington Police Department.
Brunswick County resident Logan Anthony Arnold, 33, was arrested after he drove into a street sign and wooden fence, then hit the southeast corner of Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Racine Drive.
Police reported Arnold failed on a 90-degree turn at the intersection of Pine Clay Road and Lexington Drive, causing his vehicle to go off road.
Arnold was charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, felony serious injury, reckless driving to endanger and four charges of failure to appear on misdemeanor.
Following the accident, Arnold was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment due to his severe inebriation. He is now at the New Hanover County Sherriff’s Office detention center under a $26,000 bond.
Police are continuing to investigate the case.
