Local first-responders save female who jumped off I-140 bridge

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — A young female jumped from the a I-140 bridge on Saturday morning and local first-responders were able to save her.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, New Hanover County Fire Rescue, Wilmington Fire Department, NHCRMC EMS and the North Carolina Highway Patrol all assisted after the lady jumped from the eastbound bridge just after 10:30 a.m. Two firemen from New Hanover County Fire Rescue and Sgt. Bryant from NHCSO were able to rappel down to help the female.

NHCSO said she was transported to the hospital and is recovering; with no life-threatening injuries.
