North Carolina’s darling doughnut-maker, Krispy Kreme, announced earlier today on Twitter it’s offering a free glazed doughnut to anyone who flashes receipt of a vaccination card (stickers don’t make the cut, and the doughnut shop ensured it will not retain information from or take pictures of anyone’s card).
“We all want to get COVID-19 behind us as fast as possible and we want to support everyone doing their part to make the country safe by getting vaccinated as soon as the vaccine is available to them,” Dave Skena, chief marketing officer, said in a release.
The freebie is good for either the first- or second-dose shots — and it doesn’t stop after one bite. Krispy Kreme will offer folks who get a vaccine one free doughnut a day through all of 2021.
While the marketing blitz around Krispy Kreme centers on vaccinations, it’s also offering free doughnuts and a medium coffee to everyone on Mondays, March 29-May 24, with or without a vaccination.
“We understand that choosing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine is a highly personal decision,” the company released. “We advise all employees and guests to consult with their healthcare provider regarding whether to obtain a COVID-19 vaccination and which vaccine to receive after reviewing the available information.”
