Wrightsville Beach in running for Southern mag’s March Madness vote

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — The South’s magazine Garden & Gun celebrates its own twist on March Madness annually. This year it’s ranking the Best Southern Beach Town in its bracket breakdown. New Hanover County’s Wrightsville Beach has made the cut.

Round one is open for voting now and will end March 21. If Wrightsville secures enough votes against other contenders — Pawley’s Island, Port Aransas, Folly Beach, New Smyrna Beach, Nags Head, Sanibel, Fernandina Beach, Orange Beach, Wrightsville Beach, Dauphin Island, Kiawah Island, Grayton Beach, Ocracoke, Alys Beach, Vero Beach, and Jekyll Island — it will advance to the Sweet 16 round, then down to eight in round three, the Final Four, and onto the championship.

Voters can head to https://gardenandgun.com/extras/vote-now-for-your-favorite-southern-beach-towns/, and scroll down to “Matchup #5: Wrightsville Beach, NC vs. Dauphin Island, Alabama.” Click on the dot beside Wrightsville and then vote (no registration is required).

Statistics pop up after voting, and as of this pressing, Wrightsville Beach was ahead by 57.65%.

Garden & Gun is a lifestyle magazine focused on sporting, food, art, literature, and the culture of the South and its makeup.
