NHC Schools release students two hours early ahead of Thursday’s storm

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — New Hanover County Schools have announced a two-hour early release of students, due to the National Weather Service’s forecast of severe weather arriving in Wilmington around 3 p.m. Thursday.

A moderate storm with hail, lightning, 60mph or so winds, rain, and possible tornadic activity is expected to move through the Cape Fear between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.

New Hanover County Schools will dismiss faculty and staff at 3 p.m.  It also announced the cancelation of the district grab-and-go meal service and afterschool activities.
