NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Local nonprofit group Keep New Hanover Beautiful is asking for volunteers to help with tree-planting operations.
The nonprofit obtained grant funding from its umbrella organization, Keep America Beautiful, and the United Parcel Service.
Keep New Hanover Beautiful will hold its first “tree planting initiative” at 9 a.m. on March 13.
“We will meet at 9AM at Wallace Park and get directions to the other specific planting sites and further instructions,” according to an announcement from the group. “Please find street parking on the surrounding streets: 21st St., Metts Ave. and 22nd St. and please carpool when you can.”
Those interested can sign up here.
Keep New Hanover Beautiful previously deployed seabins to clear 132.3 pounds of trash and seagrass from the Cape Fear River in just over a month.
