Brunswick County man sentenced to 150 months on drug charges, violating supervised release

BRUNSWICK COUNTY — United States Attorney Robert J. Higdon, Jr. of the Eastern District of North Carolina announced a Brunswick County man was sentenced to 150 months in prison for crack and cocaine possession and distribution, and violating supervised release for a previous prison sentence.

40-year-old Kevin Brown received a 114-month sentence for conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute and distribution of 28 grams or more of cocaine base (crack), and a quantity of cocaine and distribution of a quantity of cocaine. Brown also violated supervised release and received an additional 36 months, to serve executively.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Narcotics Division worked with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives and made several controlled purchases from Brown between March and May 2019. Brown had served 92 months in prison for accessory after the fact to robbery with a dangerous weapon (2007), sale of cocaine (2010), and conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute and distribution of 28 grams or more of cocaine base. He was released to a federal halfway house under supervision in February 2019.

 Brown received his sentence before U.S. District Judge James C. Dever III.
