Pender County High basketball team reschedules games from Covid exposure

BURGAW – Pender High School has canceled its varsity girls basketball games against East Carteret (Jan. 29), at Heide Trask (Feb. 2) and against Richlands (Feb. 5) due to Covid-19 exposure.

“It’s certainly disappointing to pause the season, but safety remains a focal point during these uncertain times,” Pender High athletic director Matt Davis said in a press release. “We look forward to resuming competition in February.”

The exposure has been identified due to contact tracing. Basketball will resume on Feb. 9 at home against Southwest.

Coastal 8 games have been rescheduled, as has the match against East Carteret, which will travel to Burgaw on Feb. 11, while the Patriots will be at Heide Trask on Feb. 17, and Pender will host Richlands on Feb. 18.
