WILMINGTON — On Friday, Jan. 21, after 4 p.m., a Wilmington police officer responded to a welfare check in the 1100 block of South 6th St., where a victim was found tied up, beaten and raped.

Officers found the suspect, Jawuan Hill, on the scene, too, and charged him with first degree rape, first degree kidnapping and assault inflicting serious bodily injury. Hill is jailed without bond.

The victim, who knew the suspect, was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police called it an isolated incident and assured the public is not in danger.
