WPD: Woman purposefully runs over pedestrian for the second time in three years

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department arrested 22-year-old Shadasia Ellison after she committed a strikingly similar crime Thursday as she did three years ago.

Officers responded to Houston Moore Thursday afternoon to find Ellison had purposefully run over a 20-year-old victim with her vehicle in the midst of an argument. Ellison took the victim’s cell phone and hit her while children were inside the vehicle. She fled the scene but was later taken into custody. The victim was treated for life-threatening injuries.

Three years ago, on Jan. 9, 2018, Ellison purposefully hit another female victim, 19-year-old Tameka Cooper with her vehicle.

The victim suffered a minor leg injury. Ellison was charged with felony hit and run, child abuse, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, reckless driving, wanton disregard, attempted first degree murder, and probation violation.

Thursday, Ellison was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, armed robbery, and two counts of misdemeanor child abuse. Additional charges are pending.
