SOUTHPORT—Earlier on Tuesday, Dec. 29, CEO and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Brad Hilaman — who also is a physician in the Dosher Wound Care Center and in the operating room — received his first dose of the Moderna vaccine; the second will be administered in 28 days. Dr. Hilaman called it a “significant moment,” as the first of Dosher’s frontline team members to be inoculated against Covid-19.
Other frontline health workers will receive the vaccine in staggered sessions from different departments. The scheduling allows for problems with side effects so all healthcare lines are fully operational. Employees are monitored for 15 minutes after receiving the vaccine to observe for any adverse reactions
“We have faith that this is a turning point in the trajectory of the pandemic,” Dr. Hilaman said in a press release.
In the release, Lynda Stanley, president of Dosher Memorial Hospital and Foundation, added, “We are grateful that we can provide this protection to our employees, who have remained extremely dedicated through the stressors and uncertainty that the Coronavirus has brought to the healthcare world and to our community.”
