Three arrested, one still wanted for shooting that left 17-year-old dead

WILMINGTON, NC—The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office announced today it charged three people in connection with a shooting that took place at the Monkey Junction Walmart on Thursday evening. A 17-year-old was rushed to the hospital in its wake and died from his injuries.

NHCSO arrested and charged an 18-year-old Thomas Duran, with first degree murder. 18-year-old Tatum Herrick and 19-year-old Hailey Berardi also were arrested and charged with accessory after the fact.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office also issued an arrest warrant for a 22-year-old black male, Laron Carter, for first degree murder. Carter is believed to be in the Fayetteville area.
