Pender County bridge to close for maintenance

According to N.C. Department of Transportation, both directions of Malpass Corner Road near U.S. 421 will close at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6 so crews can repair the concrete bridge deck over Long Creek. 

BURGAW — In neighboring Pender County, the department of transportation has maintenance planned for a bridge, to close to traffic next week. 

According to N.C. Department of Transportation, both directions of Malpass Corner Road near U.S. 421 will close at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6 so crews can repair the concrete bridge deck over Long Creek. 

During the closure, drivers will be rerouted to as U.S. 421 and N.C. 53 W and should plan ahead for delays and traffic. Caution is advised in the vicinity of the work zones.

The bridge will reopen by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9.
