WILMINGTON — Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center was ranked No. 12 among North Carolina hospitals in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-27 Best Hospitals rankings.
The Wilmington hospital also tied for third statewide in rehabilitation and received 10 high-performing ratings for procedures and conditions, including abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, hip and knee replacements, pacemaker implantation and several forms of cancer surgery.
U.S. News also recognized the hospital for maternity care and ear, nose and throat surgery.
The media outlet evaluates hospitals using patient outcomes and other quality measures. New Hanover Regional Medical Center was also included among the state’s top 20 hospitals in the publication’s 2025-26 rankings.
Three other Novant Health hospitals — Presbyterian Medical Center, Matthews Medical Center and Forsyth Medical Center — placed among North Carolina’s top 20 this year. Twelve hospitals across the Novant system received a combined 58 high-performing designations.
