WPD investigating gunfire reports on Wilshire Boulevard, no injuries

WILMINGTON — A shots-fired incident reported just before noon on Friday has Wilmington Police Department investigating the Wilshire Boulevard area.

Officers responded around 11:38 a.m. to the 3400 block, following reports of gunfire. An extensive search of the area did not lead to any suspects, nor was anyone found with gunshot-related injuries.

However, officers located evidence consistent with a shooting having occurred and began processing the scene. They brought in a WPD K-9 team to search for a responsible individual.

The investigation remains active and ongoing and WPD said there is no active threat to the general public.
