WILMINGTON — A Monday-night traffic stop led to the arrest of two men for multiple drug and trafficking charges.

In the 3600 block of Market Street, Wilmington Police Department officers stopped a vehicle with a revoked registration. After seeing an open container of alcohol, officers conducted a consent search and found the driver in possession of varied narcotics —  fentanyl, crack cocaine — and cash.

A probable cause search led to materials associated with manufacturing and distribution of illegal narcotics, as well as additional drug paraphernalia.

They arrested 45-year-old Taryll Carpenter and 27-year-old Shawn Scott. Carpenter has been charged with:

  • 3 counts of trafficking in cocaine
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver schedule II controlled substance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Open container after consuming alcohol

Scott was charged with:

  • Felony possession of schedule II controlled substance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

They were transported them to the New Hanover County Detention Facility. Carpenter is being held without bond, while Scott is being held under a $1,500 secured bond.
