WILMINGTON — A 47-year-old woman has been arrested and faces multiple charges after threatening the public at a fast-food restaurant
Law enforcement were called to a restaurant in the 2500 block of Carolina Beach Road around 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday. According to the Wilmington Police Department, a woman was beating on a window and threatening people as she “waved a machete in the parking lot.” She was asked to leave the property but would not.
Arrest warrants for Jessica Alise Johnson indicated she threatened to “chop” a man’s head off, brandishing the machete in his direction. They also note she resisted law enforcement and would not put down her personal belongings when advised she was under arrest.
However, officers were able to de-escalate the situation and took Johnson into custody without incident. She was charged with:
- Carrying concealed weapon other than gun
- Going armed to terror of the public
- Communicating threats
- Assault with a deadly weapon
- Second degree trespass
- Resist/delay/obstruct public officers
Johnson is currently being held at the NHSO Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility and was given a $25,000 secured bond.
According to public records, the only other incident Johnson has been involved in locally took place in March. Specifically, she entered into a convenience on Carolina Beach Road and was disruptive, but upon being asked to leave, she tore down shelves and threw an energy drink which busted. The case is still pending, but she was charged with injury to personal property.
However, her release order notes she also has an “extensive criminal history across many multiple states.”
