18-year-old faces multiple charges in shots fired case

WILMINGTON — Tuesday afternoon, a teenager was arrested in connection to shots fired in the 1300 block of Corbett Street in Wilmington. Amarqeono Brown faces multiple charges.

The 18-year-old is from Leland and was arrested for the following offenses:

  • Discharge of a firearm into an occupied dwelling/moving vehicle
  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
  • Resist, delay, and obstruct public officers
  • Carrying a concealed weapon – gun
  • Discharge of a firearm in a reckless manner
  • Injury to real property
  • Possession schedule VI controlled substance

Patrol officers responded to a Shotspotter activation around 2:10 p.m. on April 7 and located a suspect near McRae Street. According to a release from the Wilmington Police Department, Brown fled on foot.

Upon pursuit, officers ultimately apprehended him in the 700 block of Taylor Street and located a firearm nearby. Police believe Brown attempted to discard the handgun.

The teenager was transported to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility and is being held without bond, as the investigation continues.
