Man arrested in overdose case

An extensive investigation has led to the arrest of ​33-year-old Neill McLauchlin of Rocky Point, who has been linked to an investigation into the overdose of a Wilmington man. (Courtesy NHCSO)

WILMINGTON — An extensive investigation has led to the arrest of a Rocky Point man who has been linked to an investigation of the overdose of a Wilmington man.

In late January, WPD units responded to the 4900 block of Market Street in reference to an unconscious male and found Daniel Francom in a hotel room. They found Francom deceased from a heroin overdose but also located methamphetamine in the room.

On March 2, law enforcement arrested ​33-year-old Neill McLauchlin of Rocky Point for:

  • Death by distribution of certain controlled substances
  • Felony breaking or entering
  • Larceny after breaking/entering
  • Felony conspiracy
  • Larceny
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Sell schedule II controlled substance
  • PWIMSD Schedule II Controlled Substance

McLauchlin is currently being held without bond at the NHSO Detention Center.
