WILMINGTON — The police department has announced a bicyclist who passed away Friday after colliding with a vehicle in the 6900 block of Market Street.

65-year-old Wesley McCormick sustained life-threatening injuries when he failed to yield to traffic and collided with a pickup truck just before 4:30 p.m. The WPD Traffic Unit is conducting the investigation and no charges have been filed.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the bicyclist lying in the roadway, as a witness had begun immediate lifesaving measures. McCormick died at the scene.
