WILMINGTON — Due to hot weather and the anticipated closing of the New Hanover County downtown library, the Living Hope Day Center is expanding its hours starting now through the month of August.
The shelter will be open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., expanding afternoon hours from 1 p.m. Anyone experiencing homelessness is welcome to come to the shelter, located at the First Baptist Church, 411 Market St.
The day center provides a cool space with connections to primary and mental health care, social services, and housing placements. The center provides rest and refreshment, access to basic amenities such as bathrooms, meals, computers, and staff helpers.
The day center is also requesting volunteers and financial assistance to support the extended hours. Volunteers can sign up here.
