The Agenda: This week’s local government meetings

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Every Monday Port City Daily will share upcoming government and community meetings around the tri-county region. If there’s an item of public interest, it will be included, too.

Monday, July 14

Pender County Board of County Commissioners will meet at 4 p.m. at the Hampstead Annex, 15060 US Highway 17. The agenda details several purchase orders, including three 2024 Dodge Ram 2500 trucks for Utilities, totaling $161,500. Additionally, $185,189 is allocated for a specialized service vehicle equipped with a heavy-duty crane for the Centralized Maintenance Division. Commissioners will also vote to approve updated personnel policy. The meeting will livestream here.

Brunswick County Planning Board will meet at 4 p.m. at 30 Government Center Dr. The agenda includes a rezoning and subdivision, as well as:

  • 1,676 single-family units planned development on Hooper Road NW near Northwest and Leland
  • 200-single family units planned development on Southport-Supply Road SE near Bolivia
  • 299 single-family units planned development on Seaside Road SW near Sunset Beach

The Brunswick County Board of Education will hold a special called meeting at 9 a.m. in the  Brunswick County Schools Administrative Offices, 35 Referendum Drive, to discuss new school property acquisition options and making related decisions. Meetings are livestreamed here.

Leland Town Council will meet at 1 p.m. at the Leland Fire Station 51 for an agenda review. There will be a Leland 2030 Strategic Plan Update and discussion topics from each council member, including Magnolia Greens and research on an ordinance.

CFPUA will have the Easement Approval Group meeting at 9 a.m., followed by a 2 p.m. public meeting for the Parallel Raw Main Project at 20 Government Center Dr. in Wilmington.  An agenda was not posted for either.

Tuesday, July 15

The Wilmington City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Resolution Directing the City Manager to Support Fossil Fuel-Free Investing Strategies
  • Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Establish Standards and Provisions Regarding the Creation and Management of Social Districts

The New Hanover County Schools Policy Committee will meet at 1 p.m. in the Board of Education Center, 1805 S. 13th St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Policy 2610 – Board Attorney
  • Policy 4150 – School Assignment

Wednesday, July 16

Pender County Board of Adjustment will meet at 9 a.m., 805 South Walker Street. The agenda includes an appeal of an administrative decision on a Notice of Violation issued to Salty Acres Adventure Park, LLC, for operating a commercial adventure park without permits. The meeting will livestream here.

The Wilmington Planning Commission will meet at 6 p.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda can be viewed here.

Thursday, July 17

Burgaw Planning Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. at 108 E. Wilmington St. An agenda was not posted by press.

Navassa Town Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at 338 Main St. An agenda was not posted by press.

Town of Oak Island Planning Board will meet at 9 a.m. in council chambers at town hall. The agenda includes a:

  • Proposed text amendment to the UDO allowing light manufacturing as a by-right use in the C-LD, Commercial Low Density
  • Presentation of commercial code repair

Topsail Beach BIS Committee will meet at 2 p.m. in the Topsail Beach Town Hall. The agenda includes an update on the BIS fund and the Rocky Mount project. The meeting will livestream here.

Southport Planning Board will meet at 6 p.m. at the Southport Community Building, 223 E. Bay St. An agenda was not posted by press.

Surf City Technical Review Committee will meet at 10 a.m. in the Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 West Florence Way. An agenda was not posted by press. 

New Hanover County ABC Board meets at 9 a.m. at the 6009 Market St. location. An agenda was not posted by press.

The Wilmington Board of Adjustment will meet at 1 p.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • 5123 Market St.: Variance to City Code 18-391 to exceed the allowable area for menu board signs.
  • 1225 Great Oaks Drive: Variance to allow a bulkhead extension in the R-20(Legacy) district

The Cape Fear Community College Board of Trustees will meet at 5 p.m. in Union Station, 502 N. Front St. Meetings are livestreamed here. An agenda was not posted by press.

The New Hanover County Commissioners will hold an agenda review at 4 p.m. in the NHC Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive. An agenda was not posted by press. 

Leland Town Council will have its regular meeting at 6 p.m. at Leland Fire Station 51. The agenda includes a resolution R-25-054 to adopt the Leland Integrated Mobility Plan, an ordinance to amend sections 66-4 and Sections 66-162 of the Leland Code of Ordinances, an ordinance to amend flood damage prevention ordinance and staff reports.

Friday, July 18

Surf City Town Council will meet for a work session at 9 a.m. in the Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 West Florence Way. An agenda was not posted by press.
