The Agenda: Government meetings this week

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Every Monday Port City Daily will share upcoming government and community meetings around the tri-county region. If there’s an item of public interest, it will be included, too.

Monday, June 9

The Brunswick County Planning Board will meet at 4 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Chambers at 30 Government Center Dr. The agenda includes:

  • Discussion on four proposed developments
  • Discussion on three proposed rezoning areas

Tuesday, June 10

The New Hanover County Schools Policy Committee will meet at 1 p.m. in the Board of Education Center, 1805 S. 13th St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes: 

  • Policy 2210 – Duties of Officers
  • Policy 4329 – Bullying and Harassing Behavior Prohibited

The Oak Island Town Council will meet at 6 p.m. in the Oak Island Town Hall council chambers on the second floor of the Town Hall at 4601 E Oak Island Drive. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Consideration of Transitioning to a fire tax in lieu of fire fees
  • Consideration of adopting the FY 2025-2026 budget

Carolina Beach Town Council will meet at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers, 1121 N. Lake Park Boulevard. The agenda includes consideration of adopting the proposed FY2025-2026 budget and a consideration of a zoning map amendment to rezone 204 Harper Avenue from Mixed Use to Central Business District. The meeting will livestream here. 

Burgaw Board of Commissioners will meet at 4:30 p.m. at Burgaw Town Center, 108 E. Wilmington St. Meetings will be livestreamed here and the agenda features:

  • Consideration of adopting 2025-2026 budget
  • Updates on current projects

The New Hanover County Board of Elections will be holding a regular meeting on June 10, 5:30 p.m., in the board room at 226 Government Center Dr., to conduct regular business and discuss election-related matters. Limited in-person seating will be available and the meeting is available telephonically by dialing 1-336-218-2051 (press 338 513 369 followed by pound sign). This meeting will be online here. 

The Pender County Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. in the Dr. Katherine Herring Resource Center, 798 US-117. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Clear Bag Policy
  • Booster Club Policies
  • Security Vestibule Installation

Wednesday, June 11

The CFPUA Executive Committee will meet at 10 a.m. at 35 Government Center Drive.The agenda includes:

  • Reports on General Assembly bills that may impact CFPUA

Thursday, June 12

The New Hanover County Commissioners will hold a budget work session at 2 p.m. followed by an agenda review in the NHC Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive. The meetings will be livestreamed here.

The Wrightsville Beach Board of Alderman will meet at 5:30 p.m. in Wrightsville Beach Town Hall, Council Chambers, 321 Causeway Drive. The agenda includes a public hearing on the FY25-26 budget and consideration of  adoption. The meeting will be streamed here. 

The Surf City Planning Board will meet at 4 p.m. in the Surf City Municipal Complex,

214 W Florence Way. An agenda was not posted by press; the meeting will livestream here

The North Topsail Beach Planning Board will meet at 6 p.m. An agenda was not posted by press. 

The Leland Economic Development Committee will meet at 6 p.m. at the Leland town hall at 102 Town Hall Dr. The agenda includes: 

  • Economic Development Incentive Program drafting

The Southport Board of Aldermen will meet at 6 p.m. in the Southport Community Building, 223 E. Bay Street. The meeting can be livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Public hearing for the FY26 budget, energy rates and conditional zoning map amendment.

North Carolina State Ports Authority Finance Committee will meet Thursday, June 12, 2 p.m., in the Board Room of the North Carolina Maritime Building, 2202 Burnett Boulevard. Members of the public may join in person.

The Wilmington Board of Adjustment will meet at 1 p.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • 1109 Davis Sound LaneVariance to City Code 18-663.B.3.e. to exceed the number of dwelling units served by a private access easement.
  • 5936 Market Street: Variance to City Code 18-316.B.2. for the removal of three specimen trees.

The Wilmington Historic Preservation Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • 501 South 5th Avenue: Exterior alterations, chimney removal and replacement, exterior door removal on rear façade
  • 513 South 2nd Street: Replace rear deck with rear porch and remove existing patio and pergola

Friday, June 13

The North Carolina State Ports Authority Human Resources Committee will meet Friday, June 13, 9:30 a.m in the Board Room of the North Carolina Maritime Building located, 2202 Burnett Boulevard. Members of the public may join in person.
