MLK Parkway reopens after icy condition closure

WILMINGTON — A majorly traveled thoroughfare in Wilmington has reopened after being closed Wednesday.

Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway shuttered on Jan. 22 around 4 p.m. from Kerr Avenue to Davis Street. Icy conditions due to the winter storm made travel on the roadway dangerous.

According to WPD, the parkway reopened around 8 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23. Though some areas of the road have been cleared, patches of frozen accumulation remain. Motorists should stay on high alert, drive slowly and keep a good amount of distance from nearby vehicles; avoid heavy breaking.
