BOLIVIA — Brunswick County government will open on a delayed schedule Friday, Sept. 27 due to inclement weather from Hurricane Helene. All Brunswick County government offices, libraries, parks, health clinic, social services, and other facilities will open to the public at 10 a.m.

The current predicted path of Hurricane Helene has it moving northwest through Georgia and Tennessee, also affecting the North Carolina mountains. Heavy rainfall and increased wind gusts threaten areas like Asheville, which are expecting upward of 12 inches of rainfall; because of the storm’s size, eastern North Carolina could see effects from the hurricane’s outer bands.

Brunswick County Emergency Management is asking residents and visitors to stay vigilant and continue to avoid any flooded or barricaded roads and areas. Brunswick County has an online map of current road conditions and closures.
