BRUNSWICK COUNTY — After being shuttered all week due to tropical cyclone eight damage on roadways across the region, Brunswick County Schools will have students on remote learning schedules starting Sept. 23.
The district announced Thursday it would operate on “asynchronous remote learning” from Sept. 23 through 27.
“Asynchronous remote learning is defined by the teacher and the students in the class all engaging with the course content at different times and from different locations,” the release noted.
Communication will be provided to parents from the student’s school regarding their remote learning plan, including device pick-ups, as necessary.
Each school will also inform families about classes at Brunswick Community College and all extracurricular activities, such as athletics, by Friday, Sept. 20.
The district’s administrators continue to be in contact with the county’s emergency management team and North Carolina Department of Transportation when it comes to road conditions.
The district will notify families if it’s possible to get back into the classrooms sooner, if possible. However, firm communication will come by Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 5 p.m., regarding plans for the week of Sept. 30.
