NEW HANOVER COUNTY — State and county boards of elections are collaborating to enhance voter ID education and access.

In partnership with the North Carolina State Board of Elections, the New Hanover County Board of Elections will host a seminar to educate voters on the photo identification requirements for voting. Additionally, attendees can receive on-site assistance to obtain an NC voter photo ID on the same day.

The event is scheduled for August 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Northeast Public Library, 1214 Military Cutoff Road in Wilmington. While the seminar is open to everyone, those seeking to obtain an NC voter photo ID that day must be residents and registered voters of New Hanover County. Completion of paperwork will be required as part of the process.

This event marks the final session in the county’s “2024 Summer Photo ID & Outreach Series,” which has been ongoing since July 1. The series aims to prepare the county for the upcoming November elections by providing residents with essential information on registration, voting options, and voter ID requirements, with support from the county’s Board of Elections staff.

“This will be a great opportunity to learn more and get information directly from our state officials on what is needed to take part in the democratic process,” said New Hanover County Board of Elections Director Rae Hunter-Havens.
