NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Qualified for-profit and non-profit developers and agencies have been invited to submit proposals for funding that provide opportunities for projects related to workforce and affordable housing in New Hanover County.
The request for proposals, which is available here, is open now through 5 p.m. on August 5.
This marks the third year of the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners’ five-year, up-to-$15-million plan designed to increase the county’s supply of workforce housing. Like the previous two years, the Workforce Housing Services Program has $3 million allocated for this funding cycle.
Each RFP will be judged on eligibility criteria and priorities established in the Workforce Housing Services Program. This framework was built around findings from the Joint County/City Comprehensive Housing Study and has been designed to address the community’s housing needs by increasing the supply of residential units, retaining existing affordable housing stock, and increasing residents’ access to those homes.
Eligibility requirements, the program’s framework, and complete instructions for submitting a proposal can be found here.
