Man killed in Randall Parkway collision identified

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department has identified the pedestrian killed Jan. 24 in vehicle vs. pedestrian incident.

Despite an exhaustive search for the next of kin to be notified, no one has been located as a relative to 72-year-old Roy Hideo Kaneshiro of Wilmington.

Kaneshiro was struck by a vehicle driving toward the intersection of Randall Parkway and South College Road. Law enforcement believe Kaneshiro was walking north and crossed Randall outside of the pedestrian walkway when hit. Upon arrival, officers found Kaneshiro lying in the roadway; he died on the scene despite life-saving measures.

No charges against the driver of the vehicle are expected.

Anyone who knows Roy Kaneshiro and can help investigators with a family contact should call Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3609.
