No charges filed in fatal crash in Leland

LELAND — According to the Leland Police Department no one will be charged currently in a lethal accident that took place last week.

There was a collision between a motorcycle and passenger vehicle on Nov. 18, just after 9 p.m. at the intersection of Village and South Navassa roads. The occupants on the motorcycle, identified as Jerrad Isaiah Cornish, 39, of Leland, and Christina Nicole Jenkins, 38, of Wilmington, were dead when officers arrived on the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Tuesday’s press release from LPD indicated: “The motorcycle was traveling northwest on Village Road toward South Navassa Road when it collided with the passenger vehicle as it was pulling out of a parking lot near the intersection. At this time, no charges have been filed. The crash remains under investigation.”
