BRUNSWICK COUNTY — The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicle is looking for contracts to operate license agencies in Brunswick County.
The state oversees the license plate agencies, but they are privately managed by businesses or local governments. NCDMV is seeking firms to operate locations in Shallotte and Southport.
The current agency in Shallotte, 5300 Main St., will close on Dec. 21. after the current operator’s contract ends. The location has been operated by Deborah Meadows since 1982.
The agency in Southport, 4831 Port Loop Road, closed Jan. 6.
License plate agencies offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. There are 124 agencies that operate in North Carolina.
The DMV’s policy is to open applications to operate a license plate agency after the expiration of a contract or when the need arises for a new or additional location in a county.
Interested contractors must submit completed applications to NCDMV by Dec. 14; forms can be found online. For questions, call 919-615-8521.
