SOUTHPORT — Police have arrested a Southport woman after she allegedly poisoned a 33-year-old victim.

Katrina “Tina” York has been charged three counts of contaminating food/drink with a controlled substance and one count of misdemeanor larceny.

According to the Southport Police Department, the poisoning took place in the 1200 block of N. Howe Street in Southport. Maj. Tony Burke confirmed to Port City Daily on Tuesday the incidents took place at York’s business, though did not name it; York is co-owner of All in Bloom Garden Center and Landscapes on Howe Street.

Officers said York injected controlled substances into the victim’s drink over three days. Other evidence recovered pointed officers to York’s theft of the victim’s cell phone. The relation between York and the victim is unclear.

Burke declined to provide details on the substance York allegedly used to poison the victim, as well as any potential motive behind the crime.

York was arrested on Oct. 3 and placed in the Brunswick County Detention Center under a $10,000 bond.
