WILMINGTON — Local law enforcement is searching for a truck that struck a pedestrian shortly after midnight Saturday.
Wilmington Police Department officers responded to a hit and run involving a vehicle and pedestrian near Carolina Beach Road and Sunnyvale Drive. Upon arrival, officers located the victim with severe injuries. Though he was taken to Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries and died.
The name is being withheld until the family is notified, according to a WPD press release.
The vehicle, driven by a white female with blond hair, fled the scene in a red or maroon pickup probably from the early 2000s.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call WPD at 910-343-3609 or use the anonymous Tip 411 app.
