Monday, July 31
Wilmington City Council will hold an agenda briefing at 8:30 a.m. at city hall, 102 N. Third St. The meeting can be livestreamed on GTV8 and YouTube.
Tuesday, August 1
Pender County Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. at the Pender County Hampstead Annex, 15060 U.S. Highway 17. The meeting can be livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- A request to revise the Wyndwater master development plan. Read PCD coverage here.
- A rezoning request for 6 acres located along Highway 117 from general business to residential performance
- A rezoning request for 2 acres on the west side of U.S. 17 from residential performance to general business
Surf City Town Council will meet at 4:30 p.m. at 214 W. Florence Way. The meeting can be livestreamed on YouTube. A few items on the agenda include:
- Approval of a site plan for phase 2 of Bishop Creek, a 19-acre development with two apartment buildings with 54 units. Phase 1 was approved in 2021 for 144 apartments and amenities
- Approval of new commercials space Chug & Grub, with a restaurant and retail
- Approval of a site plan for Turco Property phase 2, a mixed-use development. Phase 1 was approved in 2021 for 8,125 square feet of retail space. The applicant is requesting an additional 4,000 square foot building and 31 townhomes
Topsail Beach Parks and Recreation Committee will meet at 10 a.m. at town hall, 820 S. Anderson Blvd.

- Public hearing for a rezoning of 23.33 acres at 3818 Carolina Beach Road and 3930 Independence Boulevard from moderate density single-dwelling district to high-density, multiple-dwelling residential district for a 257-unit development
- Resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into a contract with Cape Fear Commercial, LLC for leasing services related to 929 N. Front St., along with other contracts for operations at Thermo Fisher
- A presentation on a plan for Market Street risk mitigation and replacement
The Pender County Board of Elections will meet at 6 p.m. to discuss its one-stop plan for the upcoming municipal elections. Public comment will also be open, 2 minutes per person limited to 20 minutes total. The meeting will take place at 807 S. Walker St. in Burgaw. The agenda can be accessed here.
The Brunswick County Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. in The Center of Applied Sciences and Technology (The COAST), 1109 Old Ocean Hwy, in Bolivia. The meeting can be livestreamed here. Items on the agenda include a contract with ProCare to provide speech language staffing for exceptional children services, as well as signing MOUs with YMCA and Head Start. The board is also going into closed session, not open to the public.
The New Hanover County Schools Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. at 1805 South 13th Street. There will be a special edition call to the audience for folks to speak on book removals (read more here). Meetings can be streamed here. The agenda includes an MOU with Coastal Horizons for day treatment services at Lake Forest Academy, Head Starts assessment improvement plan and an MOU with NC EdCorp for pilot math tutoring program contract.
Town of Bolivia Planning Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. at 63 River Rd. in the commissioners’ chambers. Presentations will be given, including an update on transportation projects, as well as
Wednesday, August 2
Surf City Tourism, Promotion & Special Events Subcommittee will meet at 1:20 p.m. at the Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 W. Florence Way.
Surf City Parks, Recreation and Tourism Advisory Committee will meet at 3 p.m. at the Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 W. Florence Way.
North Topsail Beach Board of Aldermen will meet at 11 a.m. at town hall, 2008 Loggerhead Court. The meeting can be livestreamed here. A few items on the agenda include:
- An update on the booster pump project
- Approval of an MOU with NCDOT for bike lanes
- Discussion about a streaming policy for board of aldermen and committee meetings
The Wilmington Planning Commission will meet at 6 p.m. at city hall, 102 N. Third St. The meeting can be livestreamed on GTV8 and YouTube. A few items on the agenda include:
- A conditional district rezoning for 1.99 acres at 525 Ponderosa Lane from moderate density single-dwelling to medium-density mixed residential for a 6-lot subdivision
- A conditional district rezoning for 3.12 acres at 610, 614, 618 and 622 South Kerr Avenue from moderate density single dwelling to high-density, multiple-dwelling for a 49-unit residential development
- A conditional district rezoning for 7.7 acres at 3903, 3907, 3909, 3913 and 3915 Carolina Beach Road from moderate-density single-dwelling to high-density multiple dwelling for a 225-unit multiple-dwelling development
The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority will have two meetings back-to-back. First, its finance committee will meet at 9 a.m. Items on the agenda include authorization to purchase the combination vacuum/jet truck from Rodders and Jets Supply Co. for more than $500,000. At 10 a.m. the executive committee will meet to go over the director’s monthly report and committee appointments. The meetings are held at 235 Government Center Dr. in the IT Conference Room.
Brunswick County’s H2GO Board of Commissioners will hold a workshop meeting to discuss its facility expansion project. It will be held at 516 Village Road at 10 a.m.
Thursday, August 3
New Hanover County Board of Commissioners will hold an agenda review at 4 p.m. at the NHC Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive. The audio can be streamed the following day here.
New Hanover County Planning Board will meet at 6 p.m. at the NHC Historic Courthouse, 24 Third St N. in Wilmington. The meeting can be livestreamed on NHCTV and YouTube. A few items on the agenda include:
- A special use permit request for a campground and RV park on 19.21 acres at 8102, 8104, and 8106 Sidbury Road
- A rezoning request for 5322 Carolina Beach Road to residential multi-family – moderate density for a maximum 200-unit multi-family and townhouse development
- A rezoning request for 7.37 acres at 7641, 7645, and 7647 Carolina Beach Road from residential to (CZD) R-5 residential for a maximum of 46 attached single-family dwelling units
The Burgaw Tourism Development Authority will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Historic Train Depot, 115 S. Dickerson St.

The Burgaw Beautification Committee will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Historic Train Depot, 115 S. Dickerson St.
The Southport Board of Alderman will host its agenda review meeting at 9 a.m. at Indian Trail Meeting Hall, 113 W Moore St. It’s open to the public.
