Wilmington man hospitalized after stabbing

WILMINGTON — One has been charged with assault and another is in the hospital after a stabbing on June 28.

Around 11:30 p.m. yesterday, Wilmington Police Department units responded to the 800 block of Wellington Avenue in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, officers located one person on the ground suffering from stab wounds. The victim was taken to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center and is in stable condition, expected to recover.

After an initial investigation, officers charged 45-year-old Michael Baysden of Wilmington with assault with deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He is being held at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center with a $50,000 secured bond.
