H2G0 serves 40,000 people in the northeast part of the county and began flushing reverse-osmosis-treated water into its 200 miles of distribution on Tuesday, May 30.
Brunswick Regional Water and Sewer turned on the RO Water Treatment Plant, to pump water from contaminant-free aquifers that are up to 600-feet deep. Earlier this month it tested 40 various PFAS analytes.
As of June 21, H2G0 is reporting the water is clean. The flushing will continue up to six more weeks, according to a release.
“Line flushing is a routine distribution maintenance task, which is essential to maintaining a healthy distribution system. The current aggressive transitional flushing program will be followed by routine flushing as needed. H2GO will notify the public when the current flushing program is complete,” Stephanie Blair, communications director at H2GO, stated in the release.
