WILMINGTON — After a man failed to stop his vehicle for law enforcement, a foot chase ensued, leading to a drug traffickign arrest.
Around 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wilmington Police Department units conducted a traffic stop at North Kerr Avenue and McClelland Drive, but the car would not stop. Antonio Greene of Rocky Point, 43, eventually stopped the vehicle and fled on foot.
Several officers, plus the K-9 unit assisted with the chase. Greene was located by a WPD K-9 where he was laying down in the bushes. Officers also located large quantity of narcotics nearby including 41 grams of methamphetamine, crack/cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana and various pills. The drugs had been discarded by Greene after he jumped over a fence.
Greene is being charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking in opium or Heroin, PWIMSD schedule II-controlled substance, PWIMSD schedule III-controlled substance, PWIMSD schedule VI-controlled substance, possession schedule VI-controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding to elude arrest with aggravating factors, RDO, fictitious registration, among other charges.
He is being held at the New Hanover County Detention Center under a $3.5 million secured bond.
