Bridge replacement in Brunswick County to begin

Starting Monday, a bridge in Winnabow will undergo replacement. (Map of the affected area)

BRUNSWICK COUNTY — Starting Monday, a bridge in Winnabow will undergo replacement. It will close to traffic through the end of the year at least, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.

Contractors are constructing a new bridge, built in 1968, on Old Mill Creek Road SE over Mill Creek. It will be located in the same place.

Detours will be set up from George II Highway SE (N.C. 87) onto Funston Road, and Swain Road SE to access Old Mill Creek Road.

Motorists should expect delays and proceed through works zones with caution. Updates and real-time travel information can be accessed here.
