NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Three parcels in the northern end of New Hanover County could be converted to an RV park.
Douglas Grant, owner of 8102, 8104 and 8106 Sidbury Road, is seeking a special use permit for the vacant parcels to be turned into the park.

According to the site plan, the park will host 66 spots, ranging from 2,000 to 3,000 square feet, across nearly 20 acres. The amenity area, pool, trail around a pond, and passive space on the property makes up 1.5 acres.
The acreage is zoned R-15 for residential use and is surrounded by single-family homes to the west and Russell’s Reach, a horse breeding stable, to the east, with a 50-foot buffer separating the park.
The site will be accessed by Sidbury Road and havefour areas designated to onsite septic, with one stormwater pond as well.
If approved by county commissioners, the park will be located within 30 minutes of Wrightsville Beach and downtown Wilmington. It will become one of the only RV or camping parks in the northern end of the county. Currently, there is a KOA campground on Market Street in Ogden, though other RV parks are concentrated near Carolina Beach.
The owner’s lawyer, Mathew Nichols, is hosting a community meeting for nearby property owners and the general public at Russell’s Reach Farms at 8120 Sidbury Road from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on May 25.
