WPD investigating Saturday shooting

WILMINGTON — A shooting in the midtown area of Wilmington is being investigated by the Wilmington Police Department.

The incident took place Saturday, April 22, 2:35 p.m., according to a WPD release. Law enforcement responded to an assault call in the 3400 block of Wilshire Boulevard in Wilmington. Upon arrival, the call was upgraded to a shooting.

Two victims on the scene had a gunshot wound each and were transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

WPD continues to investigate the crime and asks the public to contact (910) 765-7822 with any information. Anonymous tips can also be sent to 847411, using the keyword “WPDNC,” or the Tip 411 app can be used.
