
Tuesday, Jan. 3
Pender County Board of Commissioners will meet at 4 p.m. at 805 S. Walker St. in Burgaw. The meeting can be livestreamed online. A few items on the agenda include:
- Resolution to request approval for Cape Fear Engineering to conduct USDA Environmental Assessment and Geotechnical Engineering Services and to issue a purchase order for $55,000

The Brunswick County Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. in the conference room at the Center of Applied Sciences and Technology, 1109 Old Ocean Highway. The board will go into closed session regarding confidential personnel matters.
Wednesday, Jan. 4
The Kure Beach Planning Board will meet at 6 p.m. in council chambers, 117 Settlers Lane. The agenda includes:
- Continued discussion of town ordinances regarding private beach access points
- Continued discussion of green/sustainability planning and zoning elements
The Burgaw Beautification Committee will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Historic Train Depot, 115 S. Dickerson St.
The Pender County Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. at 805 S. Walker St. in Burgaw. The meeting can be livestreamed online. The agenda includes:
- A rezoning of one tract of land from rural agriculture to general business 540 feet from the intersection of Whitebridge Road and US Highway 17
- A rezoning for 1.65 acres from residential performance to general business on St Johns Church Road
The Surf City Tourism, Promotion & Special Events Subcommittee will meet at 1:30 p.m. at the Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 W. Florence Way.

Thursday, Jan. 5
The Burgaw Tourism Development Authority will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Historic Train Depot, 115 S. Dickerson St.
The New Hanover County Planning Board will meet at 5 p.m. in the Assembly Room, at the New Hanover County Historic Courthouse, 24 North Third St., Room 301. Items on the agenda include three public hearings to rezone roughly 9 acres of land and a preliminary forum for a special use permit for a wireless support structure on a 4.28-acre parcel east of the intersection of Plantation Road and Military Cutoff Extension.
The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners will meet in the NHC Government Center Conference Room at the NHC Courthouse, 24 North 3rd St., room 301 at 4 p.m. It will be the agenda review ahead of its Jan. 9 meeting.
Friday, Jan. 6
The New Hanover County Board of Education will hold the a special meeting at 8:30 a.m. in the Board of Education Center at 1802 S. 15th Street in Wilmington. The meetings can be streamed on YouTube. The agenda includes:
- Safety discussion
- School calendar
- Budget/ESSER funds
- 100 days plan
